On January 22, 2023, the second anniversary of the entry into force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW or “Nuclear Ban Treaty”), 120 organizations and over 1,000 individuals signed a letter to President Biden, giving him six compelling reasons why he can, and should, sign this treaty now and lead the way to a world free of nuclear weapons. Now an entire year has gone by and we haven’t received a reply – not even an acknowledgement of receipt! Please write to President Biden yourself and ask him why he hasn’t responded to this request. Below is a draft letter you can send, based on just one of the six compelling reasons we gave him for joining the Nuclear Ban Treaty. Feel free to add to this and/or come up with compelling reasons of your own, just be sure to urge President Biden to sign this treaty!
