The United Nations General Assembly decided in 2013 to step up the global demand for nuclear disarmament by designating Sept 26th every year to be the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons. No mincing of words there! The world wants nothing short of total elimination of these dangerous, outdated weapons of mass destruction.
That makes today a good day to call on your Member of Congress to sign the ICAN Pledge and support the Norton Bill!
“We must eliminate these weapons before they eliminate us,” said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the first meeting of states parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), meeting in June 2022 in Vienna.
We now have the clear pathway, through the TPNW, for the total elimination of these weapons. It’s time for the U.S. to play its part.
Write to your Member of Congress today. You can find all the help and details you need here.
