If you are in Massachusetts please join us at the Massachusetts State House on January 10th, from 11am to 3pm! We have three nuclear weapons-related bills that need to be voted favorably out of committee by Feb. 7th, so now is the time to act and push for these bills! (If we don’t get these bills out now, we will have to wait another year to introduce them again and another year after that before they are likely to be voted on)
- Back from the Brink Initiative (S.1487)
- Nuclear Weapons and Climate Commission ( S.1488/H.738)
- Nuclear Weapons Divestment ( S.1651/H.2480)
To join us please register through Mass Peace Action, here.
Unless otherwise notified, we will meet in the State House at 11 o’clock at Representative Lindsay Sabadosa’s office, Room 160.
A main focus of our lobbying efforts will be to invite legislators and staff to a briefing for the Commission bill, S.1488, the following day Jan 11th. This is the third attempt to get this commission established. We don’t want to wait another two years before the state starts looking at this issue. With your help, we can get a Citizens Commission on Nuclear Weapons and Climate up and running as soon as possible!
If you represent an organization that supports the Nuclear Weapons and Climate Commission you can sign on as an endorser here, otherwise you are encouraged to reach out to your representatives and let them know of your support. More information on how you can support the commission can be found here: https://warheadstowindmills.org/ma/
